For as long as I can remember band shirts or rock t-shirts have been a part of my wardrobe. Since going to my first concert, it has always been about getting that souvenir after the show. Tour shirts happen to be my favorite and a rare gem to come across. However, now it seems that a black leather jacket, rock tee and jeans have become a uniform for models and many stylistas around the world. To me it seems to be a staple in anyone’s wardrobe. I gathered some photos of my favorite people wearing their t-shirts and some put a new different spin on it.
Mary-Kate Olsen
I love how she pairs an oversized faded rock tee with a long goth skirt and loose fitting beanie. Truly grunge at heart.

In this look she pairs a hoodie with a more fitted 80s tee and incredible accessories and of course the Chanel handbag that goes with everything.

Agyness Deyn
International Model and style icon Agyness Deyn pairs this vintage Clash t shirt with an 80s British style pair of red suspenders and Dickies. I love how she can make the most masculine outfit feminine.

Jessica Stam
Another take on the rock shirt this time model Jessica Stam wears her Pink Floyd shirt with a fedora. I also can’t help but notice how amazing this photograph is.

Krist Novoselic
Even though this photo features all members of Nirvana, Krist Novoselic is pictured wearing a Sonic Youth shirt. During the grunge era it was common for a lot of bands to show their support of each other by wearing other bands t-shirts. One of the most common was when Kurt Cobain wore a Daniel Johnston shirt during the MTV Video Music Awards(pictured second). This immediately gave Daniel Johnston more press and fans through that type of promotion.

The Smiths
I love how bands wear their own t-shirt.

Henry Rollins
Cultural icon Henry Rollins and singer for Black Flag self promoting his own band. I also happen to love this photograph as well.

Did Kurt make that shirt himself? I know he made his own Flipper shirt, which is pretty cool. I like the idea of just taking a plain shirt and writing a band’s name on it. Haha.
+ a hoodie = perfection….total default outfit
LOVE this blog.
Two of my fashion/grunge icons:
Layne Staley of Alice in Chains. Changed his look constantly, while adhering to grunge sensability and uniqueness.

Demri Parrott, Layne’s one time fiancee and sometime model. Love the hair, and pairing of boots with dresses.
