yes thats right… its fashion week. For many of those lucky ones it is all that rules the calendar. However for those like me who work in retail it is just a time that I am glued to fashionspot and nyctv coverage of the shows all night long.. I wont go into crazy details but I will show you what I am enjoying so far from the designers…
Rag and Bone
I loved their take on Japanese street punk. Apparently a recent trip to Japan inspired this fall collection. There are some pieces that would work with almost any ensemble. Like the sharply tailored blazers with statement buttons and kimono sleeved shawls.

Y-3
Yet another season Yohji Yamamoto delivers with his collaboration with Adidas. Menswear is in style yet again. Playing with the ultimate suiting and adding a sporty twist is just what the industry needs. It seems that all designers are pulling the “just borrowed from your man” look. I also loved the color palette of black, white, and my personal favorite cobalt blue.

Alexander Wang
Downtown hipster darling Alexander Wang has delivered yet another anticipated collection. I have to say that I didn’t love the collection as a whole, but I did appreciate how he used fur and crocodile like materials. Cut out shapes, studs, and biker shorts were in full effect. While I believe that some trends shouldn’t really come back, he styles them quite well making them look relevant. It seems that this season the Wang girl is growing up and with more structured pieces.

Cushnie et Ochs
This is the first time I had ever heard of Cushnie et Ochs. They are a relatively new team Carly Cushnie and Michelle Ochs but this is one designer team to watch. While most of the collection was relatively repetitive there were a few pieces that showed some promise. Hopefully next season they will grow into their own aesthetic more but for now I love the jackets and the white marble skinny pants paired with the fur collar.

Hope you all are enjoying fashion week!
