Being an only child growing up you tend to have a pretty wild imagination. Not to say that this isn’t true for kids with siblings but you get the idea. One thing that I remembered about the 80s was my vast array of dolls to keep me company. When I think back on it now it’s kind of creepy but as kids we didn’t know any better.
A great example of this would be Teddy Ruxpin. For those who don’t remember Teddy he was the first animated story telling bear who talked when you put a tape in his back. Creepy? I think so.
Kid Sister, the girl version of the My Buddy doll. Pretty much she was the sister I never had. I think I did her hair in all sorts of crazy ways but mostly carried her around in the front basket of my bike. Now that I look back she was dressed like she lived in a retirement community in Florida. What’s with the visor Kid Sister?
Popples. Ok these seriously were the ish. These colorful dolls were nothing like a real life person but balling them up and throwing them around the room was the pastime of my youth.
What are some of your favorite childhood toys?
