I wanted to give you and myself some time to fully digest all of the fashion collections this season. As I browsed through many shows, it came to me that this might be one of my favorite seasons. Since it’s impossible to talk about them all I’ve chosen one collection from each city and then some honorable mentions…
Enjoy!
Paris- Haider Ackermann
-Haider Ackermann’s show was absolutely breathtaking. Throughout the typical palettes that we have come to expect with spring clothes, this was was draped in elegance and darkness. Notice the playful polka dots in sheer fabric that trail behind the models like air. This is like a metropolis steam-punk uniform for the future. Or at least I pray that it is.
Paris honorable mentions: Stella McCartney, Balenciaga, Givenchy, Rick Owens, Saint Laurent, Alexander McQueen
I’ve always thought of the boys at Proenza Schouler as almost fashion psychics. Each season their designs feel on the brink of new technology. Perforated leathers, boxy silhouettes, and graphic photographic prints were the stand out features. In a world where technology and our everyday routines are changing everyday, Proenza Schouler is riding the pulse of possibilities.
New York honorable mentions: Alexander Wang, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Rag & Bone, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Y-3, VPL
London- Preen
The first thing that comes to mind is mixed media when I think of Preen. A fairly commonplace term used when describing many different shows this season. The navy chiffon slip dress I can totally see Courtney Love wearing on stage with Hole. One of the other things that I love was the progression in the show from reptile oriented prints to rosy prints and navy chiffon. Can we also talk about those ankle strapped shoes too? In love.
London honorable mentions: House of Holland, Charlie May, Burberry Prorsum
Jil Sander finally returns to her fashion house after 8 years. Not that we all didn’t love Raf Simon’s contribution to the line, but it’s great to have her back. Minimalism is always been the key to understanding Sander’s woman. The shapes and lines with just the small embellishments make it sparkle with just a little bit of flair. Example: that circular pattern on the white skirt. Each piece in the collection stands alone and works so well paired with heavy hardware to build on the design, or with little to no accessories to let the volume speak for itself.
Milan honorable mentions: Marni, DSquared, Prada

Loving Haider Ackermann dark palette for SS13. I love wearing dark colours all year around no matter how ill-advised it is!
