Throwback Thursday : Stone Temple Pilots -Core

There are few debut albums these days have had as much of an impact on me as those of the 90s. Maybe it’s that sense of nostalgia that leads my mind astray but it seems that for a while there were bands popping up all over the radio that had stellar debuts. Which brings me to todays throwback post, Stone Temple Pilots “Core” album.

Scott Weiland’s voice explodes onto the record with “Dead and Bloated” and quickly rises with the now notorious tracks, “Sex Type Thing”, “Wicked Garden” and the bands hit “Plush”. It’s got all the swag of a great alternative rock record with a grunge infused vocal styling. The sound of my childhood essentially. Here are some early photos of the Pilots, not the Chester Bennington reincarnate that is currently floating around the waves. To me it’s not STP without Scott Weiland to me.
