British model and actress, Ella Jazz has an aura of just an all around cool chick. Often photographed by Victor Vauthier, her carefree style and tomboy charm shines through in any given surrounding. Time to cure that humpday blues with a peek into the world of Ella Jazz.

In the 90s there was no better tv role model than Angela Chase from My So Called Life. Played by Claire Danes to a tee, she really encapsulated what it was like to be an extremely introspective teenager with a crush on Jared Leto. Yes, of course many of us still haven’t gotten over the fact that she got to make out with him, but I digress. See also my post on her amazing tv best friend, Rayanne Graff.
After being the voice of a generation she starred in one of my favorite movies of all time, “Romeo + Juliet” with Leonardo DiCaprio. I still watch it to this day and remember every word. I gathered some great 90s recaps of Claire Danes including this gem of a YouTube video with her and Jared Leto on MTV in ’95. Perfect end to the week I’d say.

When I stumbled upon Sticks and Stones Agency one day while browsing Instagram, I was immediately obsessed with finding out more. In my research I learned that this Australian fashion/styling agency started by Ainsley Hutchence and her now husband Sebastien Fougere represented some of the best cult brands in the industry today. Not only do they have one of the best jobs ever but they are quite a fashion inspiration pair themselves. They documented their trip to America with photographer friend, Janneke Storm (who is also one badass talent herself). I can’t help but be inspired by their awesome technicolor grunge style each time their photos appear on my insta feed.

Ok over the past month I’ve seriously enjoyed listening to my fair share of angry girl rock. Call it sign of the times. Then while trying to come up with a post idea I was listening to my Spotify mix and Liz Phair came on. Now, I wasn’t too deep into Liz Phair when I was younger ,but I knew a song here or there. I remember what I was doing when I first heard “Polyester Bride” from her whitechocolatespaceegg album. I was listening to the local alternative rock station, (yes, that we listened to in our rooms ad nausea, because that was where the music was) and was in my room and first heard a taste of Liz Phair.
I delved into her music catalog and found, “Exile in Guyville”, another album much in the vein of “Jagged Little Pill” on the angst level. Now she isn’t textbook “grunge” but she certainly has the spirit of the 90s girl. Doesn’t give a fuck and makes what she wants type girl. Enjoy and discover Liz Phair.

Over the past few years I’ve come to really love and draw inspiration from Rooney Mara. I first saw her in “The Social Network” a few years ago and then did even more research into her career.
One of my favorite periods in her career was when she was promoting the “Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”. Her role as Lisabeth Salander was mind blowing. This is truly the best blend of current inspiration with a grunge edge of the 90s.

The skate culture will be the death of me. Apart from being so burnt that I’m not actually a skater myself, I tend to immerse myself in the culture whenever I can. This brings me to this weeks Menswear Monday segment, skater Dylan Rieder.
His skate style is so perfectly inspired by the skate world with just a dash of a fashion flare. Recently he modeled in the new DKNY campaign. This won’t be the last we see of him in the fashion arena.
Check out the video of his sweet skills…

I first saw British actor Jamie Campbell Bower in Sweeney Todd with Johnny Depp. A little known Burton musical film that came out a few years ago. Aside from the complete and utter shock of seeing Johnny Depp sing and act at the same time, there was also my discovery of Jamie in the film. Most recently he’s appeared in The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, which seems to have quite the cult following.
I’m personally in love with his style off set. In my further research I found he’s also signed to Select Model Management in London, with that bone structure, are you surprised?

Thora Birch is one of my ultimate style crushes. It could also be because secretly I’ve always wanted to be a redhead. From her quirky style and incredible performances in “Ghostworld” and “American Beauty”, she’s been on the top of my inspiration list for at least a good decade. Let’s take this midweek break to appreciate her amazing and unique style.

Kim Gordon is a goddess. Yes, on my 90s grunge list of inspirations she ranks high. The bassist and vocalist of Sonic Youth more of a direct similarity of my own personality. In a nutshell she hangs with the guys but also can show her feminine side by designing a clothing line and posting for a Saint Laurent campaign. Yes even at 60 years old she is still one of the driving forces in the scene, yes Kim yes.
I thought I would take a little departure from the Sunday Inspiration to do a post about Bijou Phillips, one of my amazing style icons. Her career started as a model and all around “it-girl” and then morphed into an actress more than anything else.
Today I was watching “Bully” by Larry Clark and it reminded me all about her today. She has a super grunge sex-vixen thing going on which is super tough and awesome. Maybe we can take some cues from her now and again.
