Yesterday I forgot to wear jewelry so today I’m making up for it. Erin Wasson is my style guide for today. Here’s hoping the day flies by pretty fast.

We all remember everyone’s favorite VJ on MTV in the 90s. It was Simon Rex. Now accidentally I’ve been following his career since. It must have been that article I read about him in YM all those years ago. I’ve always had a crush on him and when he played art student Eli in Felicity season 1 I almost lost it. He was on the short lived WB series “Jack and Jill” that I also followed. Nowadays he’s rapping under the name Dirt Nasty. Even with his hard partying life he raps about, he still looks pretty good for being 15 years older. On this Monday lets take a moment to remember the MTV generation of the 90s and Simon Rex.
omg him and Adrien Brody…heaven.
I love you Simon Rex…Dirt Nasty and all..

About a week ago my college computer finally crashed. When I felt it on the fritz I quickly rushed to back up my work on here. In my life I’ve only shot a series of photos a few times. This one I shot with my friend Kat who styled it and Sarah who we worked with at the time. Some of you may remember that we shot Sarah for the “Soft Edge” editorial last year. Take a look at some of my early work as a photographer. This is still one of my favorite shoots I’ve done to date. Hopefully this will give you some inspiration on this Sunday afternoon.

I realize that this is the first official collection post that I have done since fashion week has started. The funny thing about it is that I am glued to the computer from the moment that it starts. This afternoon I was finally able to catch up with all the shows I wanted to see.
Rick Owens has been one of my favorite designers for a while now. He was one of the first people that I began to study when I got into this whole fashion obsession of mine. Thankfully one of my first fashion splurge pieces was one of his leather jackets so ever since I have been in love. His past collection for Fall 2012 just reminded me again of how much I love this man. He dressed them in sort of an armor type of dress. Strange how Alexander Wang and Rick Owens both had some sort of cover-up on their women this fall. Maybe its a nod to the pending apocalypse according to the Mayan calendar. Next fall I’m in ribbed netting blending into my background of blue skies and palm trees. All while rocking a badass cocoon like silhouette.

If you’ve never heard of L7 then this is the post for you. Even if you have heard of L7, this is the post for you. This all girl grunge-punk band formed in 1985 was a big part of my life growing up. While the band was on the ever so popular Sub Pop label in the 90s they hailed from L.A. when most of the bands were coming from Washington State. I’m a sucker for an all-girl band. Always gave me hope that one day me and my girlfriends would start that band we always dreamed of. And we’d look and sound like L7.
(man what a show this must have been)

This is one post that I’m very excited to share with you all. I’m sitting in my living room watching “Live Tonight! Sold Out!” a great Nirvana documentary that always brings so many memories back. I can remember showing up with the VHS tape in hand at my friends house all excited to sit extra close to the screen. SO much that I’m apart of the show. You will soon feel the same when you read my upcoming post. This leads me to my post on British fashion designer, Charlie May.
her video for the AW12 line is mindblowing…
She’s not only a great new indie designer, but I feel a bit guilty because she’s a secret I’ve been keeping for too long. She has a blog called Girl a la Mode and it’s been on my list of top 5 blogs to read when I get home for years now. Part Rick Owen, part Jil Sander, part Alexander Wang with a splash of Acne sums up her designs to a tee. Showing her second collection just a few weeks ago in London she is already been well received by the press and I can only hope that I make my way to London soon to check these pieces out in person. Until now I never knew how the absence of color can speak volumes.

I know that the first time you hear “machinehead” you wanted to know what that lead singer looked like. I know I did. Little did we all know that it was Gavin Rossdale of Bush. Hailing from London they dominated the alternative rock scene in the mid to late 90s. My favorite album of theirs was “Sixteen Stone” and for some years I actually wanted to name my first born “Glycerine”. Now he’s married and has the most amazing alternative rock offspring with none other than Gwen Stefani. Could this match be any more perfect in everyones rock fantasies? I dont think so.
and Gavin and Shirley…can’t even deal with this photograph.
