Menswear Monday: Jamie Campbell Bower

I first saw British actor Jamie Campbell Bower in Sweeney Todd with Johnny Depp. A little known Burton musical film that came out a few years ago. Aside from the complete and utter shock of seeing Johnny Depp sing and act at the same time, there was also my discovery of Jamie in the film. Most recently he’s appeared in The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, which seems to have quite the cult following.

I’m personally in love with his style off set. In my further research I found he’s also signed to Select Model Management in London, with that bone structure, are you surprised?

Menswear Monday: Johnny Depp

I was talking to my mom this morning asking her about who I should profile for this Monday’s segment. Of course my mom suggested doing a post on Johnny Depp. I thought about it, and yeah I’ve mentioned him quite a lot throughout the years on the site but never have I devoted a post solely to him as a 90s retrospective.

He is truly one of my favorite actors ever. I love that he has kept his true “grunge” style well into his 40s. The man is truly perfect in every sense. I’ve tried to gather a crop of photos that I haven’t shown before but who can blame me if a few familiars snuck in.

Throwback Thursday: Winona Ryder

Yes, after 4 years of writing this blog I have not dedicated an entire post to Winona Ryder. It seems that now that I’m in my late 20s I seem to relate more and more to her style from the 80s and 90s. Almost every wardrobe in her films is just about perfect from Heathers to Reality Bites, and Girl Interrupted. She has been known for her off camera style as well, especially when she was a part of one of the most iconic Hollywood couples in the 90s. Yeah, that’s right her relationship with Johnny Depp. No matter what happens she inspired a tattoo on Johnny Depp. Nuff said.

Perfect for a Throwback on this Thursday…

Sixteen Candles Down the Drain…Sunday Inspiration Post

I live for Sunday’s inspiration posts. Sounds strange but I do. There is something that is soothing about the process. For example right now I’m watching old episodes of The Real World: Seattle and mentally planning my trip there.

the music video that inspired this post title:

Grunge Couple Icons: Johnny Depp + Winona Ryder

There is no more fitting couple to represent the Hollywood side of the grunge era than Johnny Depp and Winona Ryder. First seen on screen together in Tim Burton’s Edward Scissorhands, they captured my heart. He even got the infamous tattoo to prove it…Let’s face it you just can’t go wrong with Johnny Depp, ever.

Fashion Film: Belle Sauvage FW 2011 “Self Similarity”

It’s no secret that fashion films are the wave of the future. More and more these short films or “video editorials” are popping up. This gives people all over the world the chance to see the clothing in motion and is more realistic than a photograph in a highly stylized environment. Since an attempt at trying to make my own I have been obsessed with tracking them down on youtube and becoming more inspired by the minute.

Belle Sauvage is an edgy label out of London and has just recently caught my eye. Worn by Katy Perry, Florence Welch, and La Roux it is sure to be another designer that will break the bank for me. Their fall 2011 collection showed influences from Martin Margiela to Tim Burton with leather cut outs and  architecturally gorgeous accessories.

Here is their fashion film for the season:

Menswear Monday: Johnny Depp as “Sweeney Todd”

It’s no secret that Johnny Depp is one of the best actors in the business. Personally I feel he has been robbed for the Oscar almost every year, however his performance in Sweeney Todd was not only inspiring but visually inspiring. Can you believe Johnny Depp can sing?

Anywhoo…I happen to love the style in this film. Set in a Gothic 1800’s London Depp is dressed more like a deranged Beethoven with a gray streak in his hair…

Check him out…

Here he is arriving at the Paris premiere in one of my favorite outfits ever.
