Aside from the usual grungy dudes that occupy space my subconscious, I do live for an awkward nerdy type guy. Case and point: Matthew Gray Gubler of the tv show Criminal Minds. His first love is film making and since has directed seven episodes of Criminal Minds. Upon deeper exploration I discovered that he was also a model with DNA and has done some print modeling and runway work, and is a pretty incredible artist. Looking at his online personality, he seems to be the goofiest and probably one of the few actors who doesn’t take themselves too seriously. Now back to your regularly scheduled programming.
The simple story of a boy and a girl needs no introduction or subtext. It’s this classic story that Daria tells with her latest editorial for the blog. Perfect for that end of summer season.

In every corner of the world it seems that people are revived when summer finally hits. School is out, people go on vacations, and cities just buzz with excitement. Here in LA we are perpetually stuck in a summer type climate, although it does waiver from time to time. Just like everyone we also get excited when the spring months wind down and another crazy summer time is upon us. It just wouldn’t be summer without causing a riot and really soaking in those rays. Here is some vintage mixed with current summer inspiration. It’s almost here!

I think my favorite movie just may be “Dazed and Confused”, no joke. I remember watching it on VHS in my room all throughout high school and memorizing every single word. I often think I was born in the wrong decade. Almost everyday I wish I was born just 10 years earlier then I really could have revelled in the 80s and 90s like I wish. I am however very happy with growing up in the age just before technology really took over.
This movie has the most ridiculously amazing cast from the ’90s. Even though the film is about the last day of high school in ’76, it was released and filmed in ’93 so it makes it into the throwback category for me. Join the stoners and the hippies in one wild ride of a night they will never forget. Wooderson, played by Matthew McConaughey was probably the definition of the older sleazy guy who hangs around the high school kids but man, those tight jeans and that hair…swoon. I think I had a crush on every guy in this movie for their utter cool factor. I also wanted to be Jodi, Mitch’s sister. And every other girl for that matter. Please whatever you do if you haven’t seen this movie, play hooky from school and call out sick from work cause it’s seriously one of the best movies ever made.
Another recent model on my fashion radar is defintely Ruby Aldridge. She has this awesome edgy dark personal style that almost overshadows her modeling work but not quite. Her style can be a dash of Effy Stonem from Skins, mixed with Mary-Kate Olsen. For the past few fashions season she was a fixture on the runways but her street style always keeps my heart beating…
