I think I’ve done maybe 3 posts on my rainy day inspiration..
Not sure if I have done one of my rainy day mixes. If some of you don’t know, I’m the queen of mixtapes. I love it even more if it is on an actual cassette tape but that time has passed us years ago. Even the days of the mix cd has passed us by. There are still a few friends who have sent me mix cds lately and to that I say thank you. On my facebook page I asked everyone what their favorite rainy day artists are but since I have my “rain dance” mix on right now I thought I would list several of the songs that are really made for the cloudy rainy day.
Band of Horses- The Great Salt Lake
Bjork- Hunter
Appleseed Cast- Fishing the Sky
Arcade Fire- Keep the Car Running
Cibo Matto- Sugar Water
New Radicals- You Always Get What You Give
Nirvana-Something in the Way
Heather Nova- London Rain
Brand New- Jaws Theme Swimming
A-Ha- Hunting High and Low
Coldplay- Help is just around the corner
The Smiths- William It Was Really Nothing
Sean Lennon- Home
Smashing Pumpkins- The Boy
Duncan Sheik-On a High
The Radio Dept.- Pulling Our Weight (and pretty much any Sofia Coppola soundtrack)
Alanis Morissette- Mary Jane
Fiona Apple- Sullen Girl
Temple of the Dog- HUnger Strike (this is pretty much one of my favorite songs in the world. I will play it no matter what the weather is.)
So now I leave you with one of my favorite Pearl Jam songs, “Yellow Ledbetter”. If it’s raining where you are then I hope you appreciate this list and tell me what’s on yours!
