In the 90s there seemed to be an abundance of young talent. One of the actors that really inspired me was Brad Renfro. The first film I can really remember crying in was “The Cure”. He starred opposite Joseph Mazzello, who was an adolescent boy with HIV. They soon became fast friends and travelled around the South looking for a cure. I highly recommend this if you haven’t seen it.
Brad Renfro was one of the heartthrobs of the 90s. You could always count on him being featured in one of the latest issues of BOP/Tiger Beat Magazine. Throughout the years he did amazing films like “Bully” directed by Larry Clark, “Apt Pupil”, and “Sleepers” just to name a few. I always felt that he had a sort of grunge nature to his acting. Like so many celebrities in the 90s he was caught up in the dangerous and consuming world of drug addiction and sadly died of a drug overdose in January of 2005 at 25.
I can only imagine what his body of work would have become had he still continued to act. RIP Brad Renfro.
