On a typical Sunday I relax in my own habits. It’s mostly used as a time for reflection and inspiration posts. As of late going through my own CDs, (yes, actual discs) and pulling out an old favorite to spin in my room and transport back to the radio days of high school.
This got me thinking about the Screaming Trees. Most know this Washington State based band as a crop in the grunge scene. However, they were formed in ’84 and are often seen as one of the pioneers in this movement. Oh, also to note that singer Mark Lanegan played with Layne in the band Mad Season, and was also in Queens of the Stone Age for a bit.
While they are most known for their single “I Nearly Lost You”, there are some other releases that are well to note. I personally love their song “Butterfly” also found on the album ‘Sweet Oblivion”. For more on the Trees delve into their ’96 release, “Dust”.
The band announced their break up in 2000 but members have been collaborating in other projects. Not to mention they have a great catalog of music and with their melodic but yet blues toned rock, it’s no wonder they are some of the founders of the grunge genre.
