One of my most vivid memories in high school is seeing the film, 10 Things I Hate About You. This was coming fresh off my Shakespeare obsession in junior high when the Romeo + Juliet film that still inspires my life was released. Complete with a stellar late 90s cast and set in Seattle (strangely enough where it’s never raining), this was already guaranteed to be a teenage classic. It’s one of the most hilarious films of the late 90s with many of my faves.

As an updated version based on “The Taming of the Shrew” with Julia Stiles, Heath Ledger, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt lead to heartthrob status back then. I personally loved Kat, played by Stiles who was a shrewd, sarcastic girl who drove a classic car and had a penchant for “angry girl music of the indie rock persuasion”.
