Just the other day I was watching one of my favorite films of the 00s, High Fidelity. The story focuses on Rob Gordon, played by John Cusack who owns a record store and spends his time pondering his past relationships. This all takes place in and around the record store and his apartment, which is a vinyl lovers dream. It’s so sad that now there isn’t a “record store culture”. There may be a few in different cities that people shop in but they aren’t places to hang out anymore. One of my friends used to work at Tower Records and man I would spend hours in there.
If you haven’t seen this film there are some great one liners from the resident music snob, Jack Black and an amazing appearance from goddess Lisa Bonet among others. Since it’s a holiday weekend here in the US, this definitely should be one to watch.
