When teen obsession goes just way too far. That’s essentially all I was thinking of on this rewatch of Fear from 1996. I’ve got my buddy Charles with me today to discuss how problematic it is now. It does have a pretty mainstream rock soundtrack, but also one of the most iconic scenes of teen cinema. Rollercoaster, anyone?
Described in the 90s as a teen “Fatal Attraction”, that is definitely the perfect description. In a story that is just as believable as it is realistic, it’s one of the early performances of Reese Witherspoon and Mark Wahlberg. We talk their careers after this point and the overall post-grungy Seattle vibe lurking in the mood of the film.
