Artificial Presence; a new series on how the new generation engages with virtual space versus reality by Alessia Gunawan
—
This series from Alessia Gunawan in London balances the digital and ‘real’ worlds.
“The first part is in the studio, where I decided to photograph through digital the subjects as unique characters who have very strong personalities and whom are very confident. This is to represent internet as a safe place for many, and as home for subcultures where identities are often strengthen.
They are lightened by artificial lights and situated in an empty backdrop of a studio to symbolize the artifice and virtual reality.
The second part of the shoot is taken through analogue in the park, where the subjects seem to be lost, confused and unable to interact with reality.”
