The French expression «broyer
du noir» (literally translated
to crushing black) means being
melancholic, depressed, having dark
thoughts. In the beginning this
expression was used by painters
who where crushing pigments to make
paint. By replacing pigments with
the photosensitive layer of the film
which is scratched, I portray this
expression by giving a tormented
aspect to the pictures.
